Uh oh! Haters!
By V on Jun 23, 2007 in Bars, Community, Quotes
Well I checked out The Montreal Lair forum (montreallair.com) and found that there are some
“haters” out there. It all began with a post that I made upon returning from Montreal (Click Here To Read). In that post I wrote the following:
“The guy I was with told me that the Montreal Lair is a bunch of geeks who are overly confident, though there are a couple of good guys. The guys I saw from the Montreal Lair weren’t all that amazing when it came to approaching girls , though seemed like great fun to be around which is what counts the most.”
That’s what set it off, I assume.
I wrote what I wrote and I will not apologize for that.
A fellow name Drake posted what I wrote on the board, which lead to others stating their opinions. Here are comments posted on the Montreal Lair:

Yeah, I remember that guy, he was the one wearing gold shoes! I spent all of 5 minutes with him, he was with another guy from the lair… I didn’t get to hang out with him all that much as sarging in a group of 4 guys gets kinda lame but he seemed kind of like a chode. And as for us being geeky and overconfident, duhhhh? we’re super nerds who study seduction like it’s a science… that’s pretty geeky.Stalemate
[edit] also, M_style, your comments don’t seem relevant to this situation, as the guy isn’t even part of the forum. Also, the guy seemed to have 0 skill when it came to approaching women, hence he spent his whole trip here sight seeing instead of getting laid.
Mr. Chic
That guy kinda reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite, except Napoleon Dynamite had a girlfriend.
Mr. Chic is one of the guys I met in Montreal. He opened the waitress at the bar we went to. Seemed to be an overall good guy.

Yeah, many (if not most) of us are geeks; I take this to mean that we are intellectually and wholeheartedly involved in the mechanics of what we do; if he means that, I’m absolutely fine with this. The “overly confident” part though suggest that he means “geeks” to be needy, approval-seeking, socially handicapped, nerdy pocket-protector types who can only get late by chance or pity; if he means that, then he can chew on my used discarded condoms (the ones with caked period blood on it, especially).
Drake
The part that irritates me, is that the comment was made by a MEMBER OF THE LAIR. Not the guy from Toronto. He’s just another idiot who thinks people want to read his every inane thoughts.
It’s great that SOMEBODY, Drake, understands.

Drake: yup, that’s an issue. I’d wait and see if there were miscommunications though; that guy may have extended conclusions beyond that members’ intended ones. That being said, I don’t know anything more about this than what has been posted here, but I want to make sure that we’ve considered all options with a clear mind; of course, it would be helpful if that member just told us what they were truly trying to convey at the time; if that member thinks we are overconfident nerds, so be it, better be honest about it, and we can all take that statement and see if there is merit to it. If that member just said we mostly come from geek backgrounds (and still apprehend the world through those eyes), then I think that’s a true reflection of our strengths.

A “geek” is only the way you project your reality. If all you’re into is painting Star Wars action figures, but when you go out you’re a cocky confident badass no one would say you’re a geek. A geek is someone with no social calibration.
Nemo___4 has a great understanding of the term “geek”.

Hey don’t worry about it. People are going to talk shit in forums. That’s why you shouldn’t read them. None of it affects real life, and these people are not what they write.
Nobody in the lair claims to be a “pua;” it’s not a religion. They’re just dudes that want to improve themselves. Many of us are coming from fucked up situations, and carrying some heavy stuff around.
Forums are like an alternate reality, where thoughts that change with experience are vomited into the void. Why are you letting it affect your reality?
I have no idea if you are good with women, and 99% of the guys that read this post won’t give it a second thought. infact, most of the “real” pua’s are too busy enjoying life to talk shit about others on the internet.
You are “Becoming a pua.” If you start a blog and draw attention to yourself, there will be critics. Can you imagine all the shit guys like Mystery, Tyler Durden, Ross Jeffries, or any famous person have to deal with on a daily basis? Do they have the time to address every critic? It would be a pointless job.
The only way to deal with this is to completely ignore it. Do not let what others think affect your reality in the slightest. Instead take that energy and give your readers something of value, like a story or a lesson. I like Field Reports.
I mean, you should know this. We’re all learning, even these guys. I know them, they’re not pricks, just bored guys chatting on a form that few if any will even read or care.
By even addressing issues like this you feed your own paranoia. The only issue that exists are the ones you let affect you.
You should read Tyler Durdens blog on how he deals with fame. Talk about a guy with haters. Dude…he’s a pick up artist! Prepare for plenty of
fear. Or better yet…don’t.
