I have the 16-year-old at my place right now. I want to get something posted so I told her to wait a couple minutes before we spend some more time together.

This is a field report of what occurred on Thursday, September 13, 2007.

A classic David DeAngelo number routine is asking the girl for her cell phone, and then using her cell phone to call your cell phone. You ask the girl you like if she has a cell phone, she’ll most likely say, “Yeah.” You then ask the girl if you can use her cell phone for a quick second. Once you get her cell phone you call your own cell phone. Your cell phone will ring with her phone number. Once you have her number you hand her cell phone back. You now have her number, and you did it with ease.

The “issue” for me is that I do not own a cell phone. I overcame that dilemma with a little creativity.

I’m at a bar and I’m locked into a 5-set of two girls and three guys. A girl in the set, who is my current target, is an HB7. During a conversation with the group I notice an HB8.5 come into the main area from the basement, which is the dance area. During my AFC days I would wait for the “ideal” moment when approaching a girl, now I just go for broke. I do David DeAngelo’s number routine, but with a twist.

I pull the David DeAngelo number routine and get HB7’s cell phone. Since I do not know HB7 I have to ask her what her number is. I’m not great at remembering phone numbers, so I write her number on my palm. I tell the 5-set that I’ll be right back, “I have to go see a friend.”

I approach HB8.5 and pull the David DeAngelo number routine on her. I get some hesitation, but she gives in. HB8.5 hands me her cell phone. I punch HB7’s number, written on my palm, into HB8.5’s cell phone. HB7’s cell phone rings with HB8.5’s number. I give HB8.5 her cell phone back and I walk back to the 5-set. Once back into the 5-set I write HB8.5’s number down and give HB7 her cell phone back.
