as a wrestler I have cut a great deal of weight in the last few days before a competition. Carb depletion the last few days prior to a competition or event is definitely the fastest way to appear significantly leaner and harder. This combined with a little bit of water depletion can make you look about 2% bf lower than you really are.

This article is called 7 days to ultimate leanness and it works wonders: http://www.t-nation.com/readArticle.do?id=459329

I've heard those reports as well. I only eat soy protein burgers, the rest is rice protein powder.

V, I have to warn you. Reports show that soy based products lower testosterone levels. You need to switch to a Whey Protien. Google it

vegetables have carbs...you dont need to cut carbs to get cut, not even close. What you want to do is lower your caloric intake and increase your cardio. You absolutely need carbs if you plan on working out hard (complex carbs, not simple carbs), they are your fuel. The only thing you should avoid is consuming carbs later at night before bed, some people would say that when cutting don't eat carbs at dinner.

Point of reference, when bodybuilders (I know your not a bodybuilder, but you are trying to put on muscle) cut for competitions, they consume just as many or more carbs than they do protein. They just avoid fats and cardio a whole lot.
