What Do You Want In A Forum?

Hey guys,

I want to start a forum. A forum that isn’t controlled by a companies brand or “method”. One that is free for any discussion and doesn’t suck.

What do you guys want in a pick-up artist/self development forum?

Comment with your ideas and suggestions.

Well, I can say that it should have 2 o 3 sections that aren’t that related to pick-up/girls… try movies, cars and a general section (for other topics socially related)…

Don’t you think there’s already enough crappy forums with 3,000 different “off” topics? Unless you’ve got a huge userbase, it’s best to stick with fewer topics and expand as the need arises.

Personally, maybe break the “pick up” forum down into several different components, such as Dress/Style, “Running Game” (openers, hooks, jokes, etc), Sex, etc.

Additionally, a “Personal Development” section may not be bad either, though one could argue PUA could fall under that. Things like Fitness/Body, Mental/Attitude.. maybe even Money (need a way to afford that sharp clothing, yeah?).

Well, the thing is… I’d just like to have one forum for those “off” topics. Either way, it was just a suggestion…

And you’re damn right with the “personal development” idea… I agree that one of the key things to this is CONFIDENCE, and a section for developing confidence around girls (and perhaps, everything else) would be great. I have realized that no matter how many techniques I memorize or learn, if I don’t have confidence with them, then they will most likely fail.

Personally I think there’s already enough forums out there so it would just turn into a ghost town..

I disagree with J Ive been around your blog for a while now and I’ve seen it grow alot with many new people and with other PUAs joining and commenting ect.

With a Forum there is more opportunity for new people to learn more and find more things easier.

I think you will need sections for..
Story Telling (discussion)
Openers

idk other stuff like that.

PUN Section!
When you are new to the game and looking for a wing, the community can be extremely intimidating. I know that there are already a ton of “meet up and sarge” forums, and while thats ultimatly the goal, there is nothing out there for guys just starting out. Include a section specificlly for guys to meet up with other PUNs to encourage, study, and wing with.

With all the pick-up and seduction stuff out there for sale it would be nice to see a forum section for reviews of products, seminars, bootcamps, etc.

Mystery Method is dead. Have a no-Mystery Method Forum.

Great idea. How about a section where you can basically make posts like field reports that don’t necessarily have to be lay reports?

I don’t think we need another forum. mASF is a pretty good one. It consists of sections from field report( which don’t neccessary have to be lay reports),products review to off-topic. mASF isn’t belong to any company and “method”

mASF also has a terrible interface, slow servers, and poor categorization of forums. “newbie questions, regular questions, advanced questions” what kind of bullshit is that? Nobody worthwhile often looks in the newbie question section.

Let’s use pre-marital sex as an example. Reality is that it’s a real temptation with real consequences. Reality is that God wants you to wait until you are married before you enjoy sex. Reality is knowing you need support and God’s help to stay pure. Then what is illusion? In this case, illusion is a belief that pre-marital sex doesn’t have consequences for everyone. Illusion is a belief that God only wants us to be unhappy and have no fun. Illusion is thinking that someone will finally love us if we have sex with them. See the pattern? If you start believing the illusion instead of living in reality, you are playing with fire and setting yourself up for hurtful reality to follow. Remember, we will always encounter reality at some point. For some in this scenario, that hurtful reality may be an unplanned baby, a sexually transmitted disease, a broken heart, a ruined reputation or even struggles later in your future marriage. Num. 32:23 says, “But if you fail to do this, (follow God’s commands) you will be sinning against the LORD; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.”

ummm…whats with the sermon? I didn’t know your blog was a temple of God V!!! haha Anyways, I think another PUA forum would be great and as far as topics etc go I agree with many of the guys above:
1)Non-PUA topics
2)Lay/Field Reports
3)Sarging Spots by major city(US, Can, etc.)

The third one I think is important because many of the guys that are just starting out or who have moved to a new city are looking for the best places. And if the other major cities are anything like Chicago, then it can be quite a chore just to find the good spots. We have a simple little database that my group uses to keep track of the best clubs, cafe’s, etc. with our ratings, the HB level you can expect, and what the best days/nights are to be there at any one particular place.

There’s heaps of forums around. Only thing they are missing - QUALITY INFO!

Too many newbies posting irrelivent shit.

Too much old material.

Nothing new.

We need a forum that only allows intelligent people to post new theories/material.

I sort of agree with you, Louie. If this is going to be a quality forum, up to the standards of V, a few things need to be done:

1. Moderate newer posters, much as V does now with people who post comments. Perhaps a rating system, where those with seniority can perhaps even ban IPs.

2. Offer a section where only top members can post. Thus, those who have been around and shown they can be mature on the internet will have a reward waiting for them.

3. I haven’t seen anyone mention a review section. Perhaps an entire section devoted to reviewing works that may contribute to the PUA effort. For instance, a concise book or video containing illustrations of street magic tricks designed to attract attention.

This all depends on you, V. I’m not sure how proficient you are in programming, so some of these may be quite a bit harder than others. I’ve been having a lot of spare time on my hands, ever since I graduated, so I’d be willing to lend some help.

This has the potential of becoming something great, as all the current venues seem to either contain exorbitant amounts of useless information or cost a month’s salary to indulge in. I’m with you all the way, V!

A section on proven (TESTED) openers and routines would be great. It would be cool to see what little conversation tactics have helped guys

I must add, some exercises or things to try to improve overall confidence. I guess that confidence should be the initial thing every guy who wants to become good with girls should learn or acquire.

Because, while I’m interested in good openers and transitions and everything like that (which could be included on the forum), I can’t help but remember that knowing every routine would be almost worthless if you don’t have any confidence in yourself. That’s what I’m trying to focus on now: getting my confidence, self-esteen and mental health improved the most. However, just repeating “I’m confident”, “Every girl desires me”, and things like that in your mind won’t be enough.

I’d like to see a sub-forum (or sub-forums) on social dynamics being used in situations other than just trying to pick up women: Business, entertainment, argumentation, interactions on the internet, etc. Sub-forums on NLP, hypnosis, and book/program reviews would also be nice (although reviews could happen naturally in their appropriate sub-forum topic).

It would also be fitting if V-bull was used as the basis of V’s forum. ;) It is the most comfortable format to me, especially once you start customizing it, though some may not agree.

I would personally like to see little-to-no moderation (with the exception of spam or legally sensitive matters). It makes sense to moderate your blog, but the community is made by its members. A hands-off policy for the forum is beneficial for three reasons:

1. Moderation WILL become a full-time job once the forum grows. Do you really want to babysit a bunch of people on the internet?

2. Encouraging people to use the mute button on other residents places responsibility on self-censorship. Users will have nobody to hate but themselves or the poster they are muting.

3. Drama is an essential part of building community. Discouraging flamewars, trolling, and villainy will make the energy of the community tepid and boring. People like to know what and who they are against. They will return to where they have invested their emotions and will be much more passionate about their place in the community than if their capacity to be involved in drama is lessened.
3.a.(the real point of 3) More return traffic will allow your forum community to grow faster and provide you with the hits needed to sell ad space at a higher rate. You shouldn’t be paying for any of this yourself- god knows you will be paying enough in personal time customizing the forum, deleting spam, and thwarting 733t h4ck0rz.

exclusivity is the name of the game when it comes to forums. you want a forum where there is some form of selection mechanism and not everyone can join in. this will create the nessesary pull you need to create an amazing forum.

there is the added benefit that people cn post moer info (pics and products) that would not be likely posted on a pulic forum.
