Ceci n’est pas une pipe

Pipe PUA

I have to thank my Visual Arts undergrad program for the many things I learned. The most important thing I learned was to think about what you see.

René Magritte’s Ceci n’est pas une pipe appeared multiple times during my undergraduate years. I paid no attention to it until my final year when I REALLY had to think.

Ceci n’est pas une pipe is French for this is not a pipe.

We are trained from the beginning to perceive images as reality. Remember the cue cards? “What do you see on the card? . . . Yes . . . It’s an apple. Good!” The problem with that is we get the same satisfaction from images as we would from the real thing.

My dad LOVES watching car restoration shows on television. Rather than restoring his ‘68 Shelby Cobra, he’ll watch guys restore their vehicles. He achieves GREAT satisfaction watching guys like Boyd Coddington restore rare vehicles.

Why? Cause he’s afraid that he’ll have screw ups with his “priceless” car. Instead of taking the risks with his own car, he’d rather watch other guys, like Chip Foose, take the risks.

The issue with television is that they only show the “good” stuff. People don’t want to see the stress and frustration. My dad gets all the goodness of restoring a car in just 30 minutes!

Emotionally I want to see happy endings, but logically I know it’s never the case. No matter what happens you’ll never be truly “happy”.

Ahh life.

So what can you take from this? Stop dreaming and start living.

Get out and do the girls AFCs can only dream of!

So then if it’s not a pipe, what is it??

The painting is not a pipe, but rather an image of a pipe. As Magritte himself commented: “Just try to stuff it with tobacco! If I were to have had written on my picture ‘This is a pipe’ I would have been lying.”

I agree with it, and I’m trying to get the girls I always have dreamed of… however, I’m still on the beginning (despite having officially begun one month ago)… and I can’t manage to get girls’ phone numbers…

any ideas to get the phone number of a woman that works as a cashier on a bookstore? I mean, to ensure to get her real number…

Also, une pipe is french for a blow job. Clearly, Magritte’s message is to stop dreaming about BJs and to out and get one.
